Mark and Debra Melvin nurtured a dream. The wanted to bring indoor rock climbing to San Francisco. Thus Touchstone Climbing was born. Opened in 1995 in the Mission District of San Francisco, this center is dedicated for providing you with high facilities in rock climbing and fitness. They have a friendly and safe atmosphere wherein participants of all ages and ability levels are able to participate in athletic and social activities.
Touchstone Climbing offers a wide range of services to both members and the public at large. They have an array of programs to keep children happy. There include kids' camps, after- school programs, birthday parties, and child care.
Touchstone also boasts of corporate programming which can range from facilitated team- building sessions to corporate parties. They have hosted more national accredited rope climbing competitions than any other organization. The gym hosts lessons and clinics for novices and experts, as well as climbing competitions and outdoor instructional trips (for kids and adults). The price of a day pass includes access to the free- weight room, aerobic machines and sauna.
It is a cavernous indoor rock climbing gym which challenges you at every step. Climbers can choose between thousands of feet of towering walls, as well as "The Crack", "The Cave," and other unique setups. Climbers must pass a "belay test" to use there facilities.
