Palion d' Asti derives its name from the famous medieval bareback horse race (Il Palio) in the town of Asti Italy. Bright flags used for the Palio horse race are suspended overhead. There is a central, full bar, named "Enoteca della douja", after the famous wine competition that takes place in Asti each September. Housed in a building built one year after the great earthquake of 1906, it is spread over seven thousand square feet. Its polished smooth interior dazzles the eye.
Enoteca offers over 180 wines, 30 available by the glass. The wine list focuses on Italian wines, and select California, Oregon and Washington varietals. Palio D'Asti is the favorite spot for people at lunchtime, and those looking for a midday business meeting or long tet- a- tet with a friend.
The wood- oven pizza with extra- thin crust rules over the menu. Then there are antipasti, marinated anchovies, hot roasted red peppers and balls of fresh mozzarella to choose from. Chocolate genoise - chocolate mousse and chocolate cake will gratify the sweet tooth of chocolate lovers.
