AsiaSF, one of San Francisco's hottest nightclubs started eight years ago. It quickly became the rage and is today considered the hallmark of rollicking nightlife in San Francisco.
The world famous gender illusionist or female impersonators, the beautiful “ladies” of the club, steal the limelight every evening. They serve you tantalizing cuisine, flirt with you and perform hourly atop the Chinese red runway bar.
The pulse of the club is located downstairs in the dance floors. The stunning brick walled room, features a hardwood dance floor with myriads of glamorous lights which dazzle your eyes. Green florescent glass shimmers in the DJ's booth who gives you heart throbbing music. The décor harks back to Asia. Shoji screens, bamboo accents and dragon motif take you back to the colorful orient. The Shoji or back lit paper screens chameleon like changes color.
The price is steep but nevertheless the menu is worth giving a try. Try succulent chicken with herb- y peanut sauce and bypass the porcupines (deep- fried shrimp and scallop rolls that have mealy texture and little taste). Pretty squares of tuna sashimi have a peppery crust, but steamed mussels are over salted. Honey- tamarind glazed pork ribs are dry, but seared halibut is perfect in a sweet soy reduction.
