Fun and frolic which make you bubble up with laughter is presented to you in a lively manner at the Cartoon Art Museum.
Way back in 1984 a group of cartoon art creators began to organize exhibitions using art work from their own portfolio. For several years it remained a vagabond museum without a space to call its own. It organized shows in local museums and corporate spaces. However in 1987, a generous endowment from Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz changed the scenario. The museum was housed in the heart of San Francisco's new vibrant art center, Yerba Buena Gardens.
Cartoons are everyone's favorite whether young or old and at the exhibition the world of cartoons unfolds before your eyes.
It is the only museum of U.S. devoted to the world of cartoons. Apart from holding seven major exhibitions annually, the museum also has a permanent classroom for cartoon art and a bookstore. Discounts are also available to educational groups and summer camp groups. The museum holds pride of place for having produced over 90 exhibitions and 20 publications, all based on the cartoon world.
