The main draw for visitors to San Francisco is visiting its many different districts. Finding things to do in San Francisco relies heavily upon what district you plan on visiting and when. The Palace of fine arts located in the Marina District is an architecturally beautiful building that many tourists who love art and architecture find fascinating. Golden gate Park is a large draw, figuratively and literally as it is larger than New York's Central Park. While there are tourists are able to tour windmills, bison farms, and several different museums. To help accommodate for the parks large-size there is a shuttle service that circulates the park, otherwise bike rentals are always available.

San Francisco shopping is also largely reliant upon visiting the different districts. Adult visitors will want to visit the North Beach area if their preferences run towards the adult in nature; there they will find a healthy red light district with plenty of adult book stores and novelty shops. North Beach is by no means on par with other international red light districts, but it is among the best the US has to offer. Union Square is another popular tourist district, and is known as the San Francisco shopping district. Union Square is by far a name brand haven for the busy shopper; there are no bargains to be had here, just a high concentration of pricey boutiques and brand name chain stores.

There is plenty of car parking available in San Francisco, similarly there are plenty of opportunities to car hire in San Francisco. The roads of San Francisco are well maintained, and laid out in an organized and well thought out way. Street signs are plentiful and the well prepared tourist will have no issues finding their way around. A word of caution though, traffic can get very congested in the San Francisco city center, so if your tourist destinations are in the heart of the city it is probably a better idea to take the excellent public transportation system; if however your plans take you outside of the city then renting a car is a great way to get around.

There are so many San Francisco hotels and San Francisco restaurants available tourists will have no issues finding a place to sleep and eat no matter what their budget. San Francisco is a city of big names and chained franchises. International travelers will be pleased to know that most international hotel chains have local branches in San Francisco. Dining is all over the place with many international flavors all commingling with each other in fusion cuisine. Wine also plays heavily in to the tastes of the region with many selections coming from the nearby Napa Valley.
